The Late Dato’ Patrick Wong was the founder and prime mover of Satujaya Sdn Bhd (SSB). He had been the Managing Director of Satujaya Sdn Bhd since its inception in 1986, and he had hands-on experience in all construction-related business activities like revival of abandoned projects, project implementation and project development.
He had a vast experience in various types of construction works, including civil and structural works for low and high-rise commercial industrial and residential dwelling and all related infrastructure works. His experience in trades also includes finishing works like stone and mill works; ID works and specialized roofing trades.
The Late Dato’ Patrick Wong was a staunch believer in quality works and to finish/complete works ahead of time. He was solely responsible for guiding and directing the path of SSB from that of a sub-contractor to what it is today; a company with full resource capabilities to handle and undertake all types of construction works of any value. In wanting to pursue quality in the works he insisted that SSB had to be ISO 9002 compliant. On 21 September 1999, SSB received the ISO certification and its ISO status was upgraded to ISO 9001:2008 certification in 2009.
To expand SSB’s business opportunities beyond its borders, The Late Dato’ Patrick Wong decided to export his construction expertise overseas and thus far, he had successfully tapped into South Africa, Maldives and Pakistan’s construction market. He also stood by the fact the mechanization is the key to produce better finishes. With that, SSB became the 1st Company in Malaysia to use the Spray Plaster Technology in its projects. It has brought about greater efficiency and lesser dependence on foreign labor (as workers are used). It cuts down wastage and reduces construction waste. The final result was; a very high quality-finish plastered wall.
He was the President of Master Builders Association Malaysia for 2006-2008. Prior to this position, he had served the Association at several positions since 1996 including Council Member, Vice President, Secretary General and Deputy President.
The Late Dato’ Patrick Wong also participated actively in many working committees of CIDB and was a member of the Board of Directors of CIDB for 2006-2008.
For his contribution to the industry and nation, he was awarded the Kesatria Mangku Negara (KMN) in 2002 by His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Yang DiPertuan Agong and Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (DIMP – Dato’) by His Royal Highness Sultan Pahang in 2008.
